A forum for Glamorgan CCC fans

I've noticed that some Glamorgan players have been in action in the Southern hemisphere although it looks like Ingram's T20 plans in South Africa are on hold. Haven't heard if he might be off to Bangladesh like some of the others.

De Lange took 3-95 in a match for the Knights in a drawn game against the Cobras.

Jeremy Lawlor and Jack Murphy are playing for Hampton CC in a "turf" cricket competition. Murphy batted at 3 yesterday and top scored with 39 in a low scoring win for his team. Lawlor was successful with the ball rather than the bat with 8.0-1-3-21.

Smith is playing Grade cricket for Sunshine Coast CC in the Queensland Premier league and had a good performance yesterday with figures of 22.3-8-4-47. There is a report at https://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/n ... c/3238373/

I'm not sure if anyone else is in action.

At the end of each season, there's always the news that some players are going to Oz etc to play or go to an academy, have specialist batting/bowling coaching etc, and i think this is impressive. Then first game of the season we get stuffed ! lol

Having had a few weeks of Heart 80's and BBC radio 6 music during my daytime toil, i'm ready for the new season and some commentary now...

Good to see Jack Murphy bowling. In their 2 day game that finished on Saturday he had figures of 9.0-1-3-27 while Lawlor was 18.0-7-1-22. Unfortunately Hampton went on to lose although Jeremy top scored with 39.

Smith was also in action in Queensland. Sunshine Coast played in a 2 day gameover Saturday and Sunday. He took 2 for 78 and then was part of an unbeaten 50 stand for the 9th wicket which saw out a draw.

Salter is playing for Johnsonville CC in the Wellington Premier League. They have played 2 matches and Salts has scored 22 and 40 and taken 1 for 13 and 3 for 42.

Salter contributed to a comfortable 9 wicket win for his team yesterday with 6-1-16-1.

Lawlor and Murphy's club Hampton and Smith's team The Sorchers both had problems batting, getting bowled out for 119 and 69 respectively.

Selman scored a century for UNSW on Saturday while Smith helped the Sunshine Coast team bounce back from their bad loss the previous week with a 122 run win scoring a quick 21 and then taking 1-26.

Lawlor and Murphy have just started a 2 day game and have their opposition in trouble at 156/7 with Lawlor opening the bowling and taking 14.0-5-2-29-2 and Murphy bowling 7.0-2-2-24.

Salter's team had a comfortable win on Saturday bowling out the opposition for 111 with Salter taking 1 for 2 and then he was 34 no as they won by 8 wickets.

The bad news is that I have heard a rumour that Neil Brand is on his way back to South Africa having failed to sort out his visa problems. Very sad if true as he has been in this country since the age of 16 having gone to school in Taunton and Uni here in Cardiff. I think Glamorgan were hopeful he would fill one of the top order batting slots and I wish him all the best for his future cricket career in South Africa.

Lawlor backed up his performance with the ball last week with 72 no in his team's win on Saturday. Murphy opened and scored 21.

Good to see that Nick Selman also scored his second consecutive century for UNSW on Saturday. Unfortunately his team mates were not quite as successful and they lost by 176 runs on 1st innings.

Another solid bowling performance for Salter on Saturday with figures of 10.0-6-13-3 in a 4 wicket win for his side.
