Lancs have announced a 3 day pre-season friendly against Glamorgan in Cardiff starting on Thursday April 5th.

"The squad will be split up, as Lancashire will also be in action against Loughborough MCCU, starting on Saturday 7 April."

Wonder what the reason is that they could not start on Wednesday 4th?

Lancs of course have history on fixture duplication. Last year they arranged a 3 day pre-season friendly against Somerset 1st XI over the exact three days that Lancs 1st XI were playing a first class match at Fenners. Naturally Lancs sent the second team. Good communication. Since reporting on it at the time, they have managed to eradicate the match completely from the club's website, almost Stalinesque. But see: http://www.totalcricketscorer.com/TCSLi ... x?id=53882

Wonder who will turn up in Glamorgan (or will they start with a completely different XI than they finish with on the overlapping Saturday). Maybe they will see sense adn turn it into a 2 day match. Or maybe it's an early April fool.

I am going to Loughborough so will now probably end up seeing the reserves!
I hope you won't. It is a First-Class fixture, and while there is no stipulation for these games that counties should field a full-strength side, out of respect for the game and particularly their hosts, Loughborough MCCU, they should be expected to field something that resembles a first XI side.

Suspect the Loughborough team will include about 5-6 players who would be withdrawn from the Glamorgan game, if that goes three days.

It's extra time in the middle for the likes of Hameed and Livingstone. Maybe let Mahmood, Onions and Bailey have a bowl off on the first day, to see who takes the last place against the students.

no wickets down at lunch after putting Glamorgan in.

Jennings, Hameed, Davies, Jones, Croft, Brown, Lamb, Guest, Lilley, Bailey, Parry, Mahmood, Parkinson.

Lancs' twitter feed say Onions will be in the squad for the Loughborough match. Clark and Kerrigan also missing presumed rested.

Glam ended 331/5. Excellent practice for both sides in some good sunshine.. Well done Carlson 106 retiring on 106.

I'd expect Lancs to bat at the start tomorrow...it would please the Lancs fans I talked with earlier who has waited a long time for his native county to visit the Gardens!

Shame it's not a three dayer but should be entertaining tomorrow.

Lancs 259/7 at tea. Croft unbeaten 101 but it its getting darker and colder. Be surprised if they don't shake hands come 5pm or end of innings.
Good practice for both sides.

Our bowling on the first day wasn't too clever either.

Need to sharpen up quick.

The squad for Loughborough shows Parkinson is ahead of Parry now as our preferred red ball spinner.

Interesting to see which seamer will miss out.

two from Lamb, Bailey and Croft (after his century) maybe? Mennie, Onions and Clark should play as they didn't play in Cardiff.

Interesting article on the website naming the squad:

http://www.lccc.co.uk/cricket/news/2018 ... ugh-clash/

13 listed + Buttler, Anderson & Livingstone not available.
Chanderpaul mentioned in the article as are the 3 injuries; Hurt, Bohannon and Lester.
5 players not mentioned, four played in Cardiff: Guest, Parry, Brown and Lilley.

So only one full squad player not played in either game and not mentioned at all. Wonder what Simon Kerrigan has done to be so sidelined? Can't be injured or would have been listed with the others - probably just discarded already.
The cull begins
